We ate lunch here as a group of 4. We had the grilled salmon, the fish and chips and the crab salad all of which were delicious. The upstairs restaurant area is light and airy with good views of the harbour area and the Abbey. Nice efficient friendly waiting staff. Well worth a return visit.

Visited today with my husband and eldest son… wasn’t disappointed… lovely place… staff so nice and food amazing. I recommend the knickerbocker glory, lovely ice cream. Everywhere was spotless including the toilets, would definitely go again.
Helpful restaurant with delicious food

Whitby was very busy on day we visited and we were a big family party so were struggling to find a place to eat in early evening. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful in finding space and putting tables together.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their fish and chips – my own haddock tasted so fresh (as you’d expect!) and just melted in mouth.
Staff were very friendly and price not excessive.
A gem on the harbour!

After spending a while wandering around Whitby early evening, looking for a family friendly restaurant- we happened upon the Quayside. We were offered a table upstairs in the beautifully decorated lounge, in a window booth overlooking Whitby harbour. Sophie & her team were so helpful, attentive and the food and drink were excellent value for money- Whitby definitely needs more of this type of friendly restaurant/bar. Our teenage kids really enjoyed it too.

We wanted a relaxed drink with a view of the abby, the church of st. Mary and the east side of Whitby, and that’s exactly what we got.
We were on the first floor, which takes you above the fish market with a clear view across the harbour. Our seats were in a booth by an open window. We sat there until it went dark and had some nice beers, coffe and complimentary water. A great find.
Apparently Bram Stocker frequented this building and heard about Vlad the impaler, which he used in his book Dracula, as his way of dispatching the undead with a stake! Not the steak they serve downstairs.

Had a meal here on Saturday 16th June 2023 fantastic meal, food excellent, highly recommended 10 ⭐️ stars. Service excellent, staff very welcoming and friendly, lovely seating area, really love this restaurant. I really enjoyed my meal and dessert 🧁 thank you all very much, will visit again.

The upstairs space was great for a family group of 30, which we booked in advance.. Service and food excellent, plenty of choice, great gluten free batter. Staff and manager all worked together well to give us a lovely experience. Thank you!!.

We ate upstairs. The service was absolutely superb: attentive, speedy, considerate. The food is great too: lovingly-done Whitby staples, good vegetarian/vegan options, and amazing Italian-style ice cream. A real find.

Stumbled upon this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Staff managed to find us a table at very short notice and we were served the most amazing fish and chips!! Will definitely visit again!

Whitby’s best restaurant

Went for our usual fish and chips on a day out in Whitby. Quayside is by far the best, lovely setting, great staff and the food…… amazing, the fish was beautifully moist inside and the batter crispy, chips, spot on again.
This wasn’t my first visit here and it certainly won’t be the last.
